Sycamore Day Centre-A Restaurant Extravaganza

In The Beginning Wednesday 2nd November 2005

This is something we have been planning for months.
To cook our own meal and serve it as a restaurant experience with fresh table arrangements co-ordinated tableware and candles etc.
Please Note: this activity is a one off.

First thing Wednesday morning all gathered in and ready to go.
Two tables were employed on pulling and peeling the sprouts.
The mint sauce and the apple and blackberry pies were made the previous week.

Angela made the lemon meringue at 6.00am in the morning and Liz cooked the lamb the night before. It was roasted with garlic and rosemary.

"I think they are waiting for this table Stan"

Edgar dressed and ready to give his opening speech.

Ready and Waiting

The Mayor of Askrigg

I now declare this meal well and truly ready to eat. Tuck in!

And a very good time was had by all

The main course was

  • legs of lamb roasted in garlic and rosemary with home made mint sauce
  • roast potatoes
  • mashed potatoes
  • roast parsnips
  • fresh sprouts
  • peas
  • yorkshire pudding

For the sweet course

  • Blackcurrant cheesecake
  • Homemade Lemon Meringue Pie
  • Home made Blackberry and apple pie with custard or cream
  • Red and White wine or soft drinks
  • Fresh coffee and after dinner nibbles.
  • And a request for an Irish Coffee

We catered altogether for 20 people including members, guests and staff.
A passing sister, Christine Garrett had a slice of lemon meringue pie as she passed by. It is the second time she has tried it and said that this one was definitely the best.
